After over a month of rumors and intense speculation, Google today unveiled Gemini 3, its newest proprietary frontier model family. This release represents the company’s most comprehensive AI offering since the Gemini line was first introduced in 2023. The Gemini 3 models are proprietary and closed-source, accessible exclusively through Google products, developer platforms, and paid APIs, including Google AI Studio, Vertex AI, the Gemini command line interface (CLI) for developers, and various third-party integrations within the broader integrated developer environment (IDE) ecosystem.

The Gemini 3 portfolio includes several key components: Gemini 3 Pro, which serves as the flagship frontier model; Gemini 3 Deep Think, an enhanced reasoning mode; generative interface models that power Visual Layout and Dynamic View; and Gemini Agent, designed for multi-step task execution. Additionally, the Gemini 3 engine is embedded within Google Antigravity, the company’s new agent-first development environment.

Google DeepMind Research Scientist Yi Tay expressed strong confidence in the new model, stating on X, "This is the best model in the world, by a crazy wide margin!" This sentiment is supported by independent evaluations. Artificial Analysis, an independent AI benchmarking and analysis organization, has already declared Gemini 3 Pro the "new leader in AI" globally. The model achieved the top score of 73 on the organization's index, a substantial improvement from Google's previous 9th place with the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, which scored 60, trailing behind models from OpenAI, Moonshot AI, xAI, Anthropic, and MiniMax. Artificial Analysis noted on X, "For the first time, Google has the most intelligent model."

Another independent leaderboard site, LMArena, reported that Gemini 3 Pro ranked first globally across all its major evaluation tracks. These tracks include text reasoning, vision, coding, and web development. A public post from the @arena account on X indicated that Gemini 3 Pro surpassed even the newly released Grok-4.1, as well as Claude 4.5, and GPT-5-class systems in categories such as math, long-form queries, and creative writing.
